Only birds fully inside the usable centre zone are weighed — at the frame edges a bird is viewed obliquely and its dorsal area foreshortens, which biases weight. Edge-clipped and merged birds are rejected too, which is why usable is far below birds in frame at high density.

Production build adds depth or thermal capture (removes posture and height sensitivity), deep-learning instance segmentation for crowding, per-breed calibration curves, and validation against plant grading data — accuracy must always be proven on the client's own birds before anyone quotes a number.
